ORIGIN Breads is a small team of bakers who specialize in baking naturally leavened sourdough breads and pastries using regionally grown and stone milled whole grains.
We offer an engaging, creative, and supportive work environment where everyone is encouraged to bring their unique ideas and experiences to the bench. We are looking for sharp, creative, hard-working and boundary-pushing individuals to join us in our vision to grow our bakery and to spread a love for regionally-grown organic whole grains.
These are fast-paced, physically-demanding and on-your-feet jobs. Candidates should be prepared for regular lifting, bending, and moving around for the entire shift.

Baker (pastry) - PT/FT position
We need more hands to help make our naturally leavened sourdough pastries. We are hiring for a full or part time pastry baker who will work on creating, developing and producing a line of pastries focused on local ingredients, unprocessed sweeteners and a variety of locally grown, stone ground grains.
Applicants should be creative, friendly, efficient, patient, good at multi-tasking, able to work long shifts on your feet, self-sufficient, able to lift up to 50 pounds, willing to share in the music selection and easy to laugh. At least one year of professional kitchen experience is required. Experience with laminated doughs is strongly preferred. Shifts vary; Thursday-Saturday availability is required. Baker (bread) - FT positions
We are hiring bakers to help us make our naturally leavened sourdough breads, from the initial mix to the final bake. You will also play a role in mixing, baking and packaging our popular granola flavors. You should have a desire to dive deep into the sourdough process, a willingness to embrace using only regionally grown and stone ground organic grains and be excited about following traditional processes while keeping your creative eye on ways to push beyond boundaries.
At least one year of professional kitchen experience is required. Professional baking experience is preferred, but we are also willing to train the right candidate. Applicants should be creative, friendly, efficient, patient, good at multi-tasking, able to work long shifts on your feet, self-sufficient, able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, willing to share in the music selection and easy to laugh. We are currently hiring for positions that work Sunday-Thursday and Tuesday-Saturday. Additional shifts may be available in the spring/summer. Bakery Assistant - PT position
We’re looking for someone to help keep our bakery running smoothly while tackling our packaging and dishwashing needs. This will be a seasonal, part-time position starting in April 2026. Tasks will include packaging and slicing bread, packaging granola, labeling bags, washing dishes, general kitchen cleaning and other bakery tasks as needed. Applicants must be available to work on Thursdays and Fridays. Availability to work Wednesday evenings during our pizza nights is a bonus. Additional days/hours during our busy season may be available and longterm employment may be possible.
Professional kitchen experience is preferred, but we are also willing to train the right candidate. Applicants should be friendly, efficient, patient, good at multi-tasking, able to work long shifts on your feet, self-sufficient, able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, willing to share in the music selection and easy to laugh. Pay and exact days/hours will be discussed during the interview.
Farmers Market Sales - PT position
Do you love the Dane County Farmers Market? Do you love sourdough bread? Do you like hanging out with farmers and other producers? Join our team selling our breads and pastries at Saturday morning farmers market on the Square. Applicants must be friendly, efficient, and good at multi-tasking. Prior food service/customer service experience preferred but willing to train. Must be available on Saturdays, 6am-2pm from April-early November. Pay will be discussed during the interview.
Pizza Maker - PT position
Do you have previous pizza experience that you’ve been hoping to put to good use? Do you love getting creative with local produce, meats and cheeses? Join us. We host a weekly pizza night every Wednesday with our friends and neighbors, Giant Jones, and are looking for an extra pizza maker or two to help us create our naturally-leavened sourdough pizzas. The main duties will include stretching doughs, topping pizzas and loading and unloading the ovens. Side jobs include dressing, slicing and plating pizzas, making salads, doing dishes and cleaning up. Required hours are Wednesdays, 4-9pm, but being available for a full shift (1-9pm) is a bonus. This position can also be combined with the full time bread baker or part time pastry baker positions listed above. Pay and exact hours will be discussed during the interview.
